After the server control configuration settings are completed, the service types configuration must be edited so that they can be properly provisioned by the server control. To edit the service types, we should exit the Server Control configuration section and go to the Services configuration section. From the Configuration menu, find the Services folder and collapse it. Look for the Service Types section and double-click it to open it. Take the following steps to edit the appropriate service types so that they can be provisioned by the server control.
1. Locate all the service types that are going to be provisioned by the server control. In our example, we want to provision three services that belong in the DIALUP group to SERVER1, our PERL authentication server. The three services are called FLAT, FLATQ, and FLATA.
2. Change the Open Assign Type, Modify Assign Type, and Close Assign Type fields to S for System. This changes the Service Open, Service Modify, and Service Close event types to system events, meaning that the server control program will process these events.
3. Set the Server Group ID to the appropriate Server Group. These are the server groups as configured in the Server Group section.
The example below shows our three dialup service types with the changes made highlighted in blue.
